When we remember that only ten years ago

the people of Uganda and Victoria Nyanza were almost unknown to the world, it is surprising to read that the missionaries there recently sold in a few weeks 4000 reading sheets printed in the

native language.

The most unfortunate town in France seems to be Yvetot. Its popolation of 8,000 has decreased greatly since the last census, and almost entirely among the maler. There are 300 mere maidens tban bachelors, and 315 more widows than widowers.

There is no doubt, says the London World, that "the costumes of British and Yankee tourists at the Paris opera are disgraceful," and the cffenders are more apt to be English than American, and well-to-do, Londoners rather than provincial tourists.
