An incident occurred in the House of Commons last night during the discussion on the Irish Sunday Closing Bill: Mr. Parnell, who opposed the Bill on the ground that it was contrary to the SE wishes of the people of Ireland, was interrupted by Mr. Maurice Healy, who declared that Mr. Parnell in nowise represented the 'electors of Cork, and challenged him to keep his promise of resigning the seat.

The death is announced of Mr. Edward Greene, Conservative member for Stowmarket, in the county of Suffolk, who at his election, recently, was clected by 3,906 votes.

Grimwood, Simpson and Cossins. It is be rides reparted that Messrs. Melville and O'Brien were murdered by Manipuri rebels at Mayongkong, on the road between Mani- pur and Kottma. His Excellency the Gov ernor-General then goes on to say that in Mr. Quinton the State has lost a servant of long service and varied experience, who filled with distinction many important posts to the complete satisfaction of the Government of India. Colonel Skene was an officer of long and bighly distinguished service, who passed the greater portion of his career on the Assam Frontier. Mr. Grimwood was attached to the Assam Com- mlesion in 1878 and was appointed Political Agent at Manipur in April 1889.
