None of them spoke at all, except to threaten him and his feki with instant death in the event of resistance being offered. The thieves took away all the cloth ing and money is the house. The eleven dollars, which they took, was the sum total of all the money he had on the premises. Ever; too, pieces of old clothing, valued at about 30 centr, they look away. His foll shouted out "thieves" before they gagged him. The burglars were very quick about the whole thing. They searched in the flower pots, and tore up some of the flooring. The deceased had the eleven dollars in his possession for about two weeks. While in occupation of the house he heard them say “this man is a corpae," menning the deceased was dead. After that they hurtled out of the house. He (witness) did not know his foki was dead until he heard the thieves say 10. The deceased was treated in a brutal manner, being bound band and foot and knocked down on the ground. They did not intend to kill,bis foki, be thought, because when they found it out, one of them said, "that is his own luck." He did not hear them say anything nhout being disappointed at not finding more money in the house. He had not idea who the men were and could suspect no one in particular. After the thieves lef: he sat Just where he was until 8 am, when a man came. He couldn't move because his feet were tied. He had no clock. in his house, but koew it must be about ten o'clock when_the_thieves broke into the house because he heard one of. them say so.
