Punjoms, quoted at about $20 per share on Saturday, were" rushed up" yesterday forenoon to as high as 930 for cash, and business was put through at a couple of points higher "for the end of the month." The cause of this "boom" was a reported telegrain from the agent of the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation in San Francisco, asking the Punjoni Company to name a price for the portions of their concessions still unallotted, or available for disposal. Per se this actually amounts to very tile-even presuming it is true, which we position to guarantee and yet it may mean a very great deal. Mr. Wodehouse held an inquiry this morning at the Magistracy, respecting the death of James Howrigan, a marine on board of H.M.S. Hospital on Friday afternoon, the 13th inst through a fall at the Seamen's Club at Wanchai on the night of the rath inst. From the evidence of Charles Bourne, the steward of

pelty the Club, and that of Henry Bird,

on duty there, it appeared that efficer the deceased and another marine, both of whom were under the influence of liquor at the time, had a sort of dance together near the bar of the Club on Thursday night, during which they embraced each other, when suddenly they both appeared to slip, and decensed, fell beneath his "partner" striking his head.

He became insen violently on the floor, sible, and, was at once carried in an amb”. lance from No. a Police Station to the Naval Hospital, where he died the following afternoon. The evidence given by Surgeon Dawson, of the Naval Hospital, showed that when the deceased was admitted to the Hospital he was in a state of coma, from which he never recovered. At the post mortem held after wards it was found that he had fractured his skull by the fall, and, that death was brought „Secretary» | about by a "clot of blood on the brain caused by the fracture." There being no suspicious circum- stances attending the case, his Worship recorded a finding of "Accidental death." :
