In every case that I have examined where questions have been raised as to the conduct or proceedings of a Court of interior jurisdiction, however it may have been brought before the Court of Queen's Bench, the Court has invariably required that the matter, shall be finally dealt with before it has interfered in any way, and in
Our readers will deeply regret to hear of the sudden death of Mr. Alexander Sim, of Messrs. Brand, Brothers & Co. Last night we briefly announced that he had met with an accident whilst out riding on Tuesday evening on the Bubbling Well Kond, but it was not thought his. Injuries would have a fatal termination. top pears that about six o'clock on Tuesday evening Mr. C. J. Holliday was out on the Bubbling Well Road when he met a riderless pony, and soon afterwards he found Mr. Sim lying on the ground, about roo yards this side of the Cottage, in all appellate Courts the same rule has prevailed, state of semi-consciousness. With assistance Mr. Sim was taken to his residence, where he was subsequently attended by Dr. Little and Dr Johnston. Mr. Sim was a gentleman well known and most deservedly appreciated. His name has been associated with the Municipal Council, the Volunteers, the St. Andrew's Society, and other public and social institutions; and his un- assuming manner, kind'disposition, and prac- ticability as a worker, made him a valuable member of the community, and bis death will be universally regretted. SUPREME COURT.—~THIS DAY.
DOCTOR FISHER AND THE CORONER'S ENQUIRY INTO THE DEATH OF CAPTAIN LEE.
Their Lordships, Chief Justice Sir George Phil- lippo and Justice Snowden, met in the Supreme Court, at 3 o'clock this afternoon, (Jan. 15th) to de- liver judgement is rethe application of Mr. Francis, on behalf of Dr. Fisher, for permission to cross examine the witnesses in the Coroner's Court of enquiry respecting the death of Captain Lee, which is now in abeyance pending the decision of the Supreme Court.
Wemay contand the Judge of an inferior Court to give judgment in a matter fit and proper for his cognisance, but we cannot review his pro- ceedings or try upon affidavit any alleged irregularity in his judgment. If there is an erroneous judgment given, a writ of error will rectify it if error lies, but we cannot tell the Judge what he is to do. We can command him to give judgment, but we cannot interfere to regulate the practice of an inferior Court, be cause every inferior Court is the proper judge of its own practice. Unless some authority is cited to justify this motion, we cannot interfere in the way required.
Mr. Justice Snowden also read a lengthy and able judgment concurring in the views of the Chief Justice. Mr. Francis' application was therefore refused.

A good field and Mr. Harkaway's lucky star being again in the ascendant, Mr. Brandt had no difficulty in scoring his second victory on the bay Barometer, Free Lance finishing a fair second. There was some little unpleasantness created after this race owing to our local "Archer," Mr. Müller, lodging an objection against Mr. Brandt for foul riding, The objection, a most frivolous and ridiculous one, was investigated by the Stewards, and very properly over-ruled. The half mile spin for the Parsee Cup ended in favor of the old local "crack" Etoile du Nord after a close race, and then Mr. Hutchings scored his first win on the once celebrated Strathavon, beating Huntsman, and Pedometer after a nicely-ridden race on the part of "Harry."
