IL TROVATORE."".

We have so often described the plot of Verdi's famous opera that another detailed and elabo rate account of the romantic story is hardly called for. As there may, however, be many persons who nie. not acquainted with the story, and who may know nothing of the beautiful language of Dante, the following brief précis of the argument of "Il Trovatore will enable all and sundry to follow the course of events as represented on the stage without the least difficulty:-

Revenge for a mother's death is the key-stone of this opera. The Count di Luna has caused the mother of Azucena, n gipsy, to suffer the penalty of death by burning, for practising the arts of witchcraft, and, to retaliate, she steals the Count's younger brother. Manrico (ro this brother is named by Azucena) turns minstrel. Leonora. is the object of his affections, and, as chance will have it, of the Count's also. Jealousy of course ensues, and a duel is arranged. Manrico is wounded. Then we find that Manrico is in formed of Leonora's intention to become a nun. Contention again arises: the meeting takes place, at the convent. Manrico's adherents prevail, and after obtaining possession of Leauora, he is about to consummate his hopes, when, hearing that Azucena is, by the Count's directions, condemned to be burnt, he endeavours to rescue her, but is taken prisoner. Leonora, discovering Manrico's position, offers to marry the Count as the price of his freedom, but with the intention of poisoning herself in preference to surrendering herself to him. The opera ends with Manrico's death by the command of his brother, and it is only after the excention that the Count learns the real naine of the victims of his malice, and this is communi.

cated to him by Azucena, the gipsy.

to the public as unrivalled by any prepara- tion ever produced, for promoting the growth of the hair. The basis of this compound is made of soap root; the natives of the Philip- pine Islands never use anything else for washing their hair; they are never found bald, and it is quite common to see the females with hair from 5 to 6 feet long. By constantly using this Shampoo Wash as directed, you will NEVER BE BALD,

The proprietor offers the Wash to the public.
