I understand that the late editor of the Shang- hai Courier (the author of " Our aim in life") is guing to Corea, to establish a newspaper, the Scout Curia Inteading subscribers are re quested to promptly communicate with Messis.THE Spanish Steamer Kelly & Walsh, Seoul, the Hund,

I hear (on doubtful authority) the C. M. S. N. are going to run a line of steamers to Corea; the pioneer boat is soon to be docked and lengthened about 55--60 feet. Il is stated (on the same unreliable authority) that the same enterprising Company are about to obtain the monopoly of a telegraph line from Scout to Tientsin, vil Moukden and Newelsvang; no message under seven words ; the tariff to be next to prohibitive, of course, the 1. M. Custon's Mail Service will follow suit."
The Russian cruiser Africe is in port, with the Admiral. The Fatal of the province arrived! here a few days ago, he is staying at the Haiwan hank. Sir Robert Hart is supposed to arrive in the R. C. H.E. Mr. von Brandt has arrived and is im- mediately to leave for Shanghai. Sir Thomas Wade is still here and waiting the arrival of Viceroy Chang, who is daily expected. It is said that H. Sir Robert Hart is expected here from Shanghai on the 25th inst. No news as yet from Corea; there is Chinese report that they have been very favourably received; the report appears to have reached here from Port Li.

Yung Wing is back from l'cking, and, accord- ing to the Chinese, he has been very coldly re- ceived by the members of the Thong-li yamén, and there is in consequence no hope of those fifty Chinese students returning to the United States lo anish their education; it is hoped that Their Excellencies Li and Chang will do their best to get those students to return, but Chinese- prejudice is very much against this education scheme, at least, at present.
No change in the river, and constant com- plaints Engineers of the China Merchants S.N. do not report favourably of the Kaiping conls- Mercury.
POLITICAL MEMS,
News has just arrived that the mission to Corea has been received at Scout most favourably. Commodore Schufekt accompanied the mission, and Chinese mercantile interests were represented by the China Merchant's Company; but we are
