In pre-war days plywood sufficient to encase 224 pounds of rubber used to cost about 50 to 60 cents, but at present the cost is "almost five times that amount. Exporters are, therefore, finding it most un- economical to use plywood cases to export their rubber.. and instead have reverted to the cheaper method of export- ing their rabber by the hales in Hessian cloth. though many exporters stil! use Malayan plywood.
