53,000 Prisoners Taken In Western Desert
BARDIA HAS BEEN ENTERED BY IMPERIAL AND ALLIED FORCES, STATES AN OFFICIAL COMMUNIQUE FROM CAIRO, QUOTED IN A LONDON MESSAGE.
The communique goes on to say that before nightfall on Saturday Italian troops occupying the northern defence sector of Bardia were forced to surrender this resulting in the British troops taking 15,000 prisoners.
The British advance patrols have now entered Bardia itself and enemy resistance is only confined to the south-east corner.
The three British fighting forces have reduced the nerve of the garrison in Bardia to such a state that they have no alternative but to suffer entire annihilation or surrender.
