Tribute Paid To Mrs. T. H. King: Donation Towards Guide Empire Fund Praised
-THE ANNUAL MEETING OF THE GIRL GUIDES ASSOCIATION OF HONGKONG WAS HELD YESTERDAY AT THE GIRL GUIDE HEADQUARTERS, Sandlands Hut. Mrs. N. L. Smith taking the Chair in the absence of the President, Lady Northcote. Miss J. W:-Buck- wall, Colony Lammissioner, who sicceeded Mrs. T. H. King, M.BE. to that post in September, paid tribute to her predecessor in' present- ing her annual report.
The sad event of the year to the Association was the evacuation, Miss Buckwell said. It meant the closing of the newly formed Kan- ger Company, started during the year with some eight Rangers under the captaincy of Mrs. Barnes, who was very keen on the venture.
The evacuation had also brought about a shortage of Guide Officers for it had not only taken away Gulders from the Companies and Packs that had to close down, but It had also taken them away from Companies and Packs that were still able to carry on.
Mount Nicholson and the scouts, generously lent us their tents.
