Scratch Club Team Play Up To Forui

A scratch Hongkong Hockey Club XI, playing up to form, did well to lose by only the odd goal in three to the Kumaon Rifles: Battalion Ist XI in a friendly, hockey match played at King's Park rester- day."

The Kumaon were short of two of their regular first team, and Club short of four. The game was scrappy in parts but the standard of hockey reached was quite high.

In the Kumaons' attack, Partap Singh was in fine form, but the whole forward line were weak in front of goal. The Club forward line, with a substitute from the Kumaons, Ram Singh, in their ranks, "proved quite effective.

Of the defenders, W. A. Reed, in the pivotal berth for Club, was outstanding.
