RUIN OF NAZI RETAIL TRADE

Thousands of German shop- keepers will be ordered shortly to close their businesses after they have been classified by the Nazi authorities as "unnecessary."

This move follows plans by Field-Marshal Goering's. war economy organisation to do away with retail traders, £13 far as possible, and supply the needs of the consumer direct from whole- salers,

The Angriff, organ of Dr, Goeb- bels, Propaganda Minister, de- clares that many German shops tre "unhealthy** in character because they speralise in goods which are now closely rationed or which are unobtainable swing to the British and French blockade.

LONG QUEUES

On the other hand long queues walt every day outside food shops and other stores where rationed Podds are issued. By supplying the consumer direct from whole- sale Arms Goering hopes to be able to do AWA with queues, which, it is noted, "create unrest" and undermine CON- fidence in Germany's ability to break the British blockade.

It is reported in Copenhagen from Berlin, that the Nazi authorities have been reduced to using tramears to transport pota- toes to different points in the

City-(Daily Telegraph).
