FANLING HUNT & RACE Triangular BIG SOCCER ATTRACTION
CLUB CHRISTMAS MEET: NOVICES ALLOWED 8 LBS.
(BY "LAST QUARTER")
With prospects of brilliant weather, the Fanling Hunt and Race Club are sure to find a large gathering tomorrow at the opening meet of their 1939/1940 season.
The programme of six events has been carefully pre- pared, with provision for steeplechase, hurdles and fat racing. The three events confined to the latter should prove interesting in view of the satisfactory, entries re- ceived.
THE FANLING CUP
An innovation worth noting the running, while Bingo is worth is the 8 lbs. allowance for following for big money. Novice Jockeys. This feature may be the cause of an upset or two as with this liberal al- lowance some of the ponies may run differently.
THE TAIPO HANDICAP This steeplechase over 1-1/4 miles bas attracted only four
entries, and I am inclined to think that Clowner will be the first one home. This black has been show ing excellent form recently at the Valley and his speed should stand him in good stead.
Ebony Idol should secure second place with Three Farthings getting the better of Mortmain for the minor position.

There will be a fairly represan- tative field in this seven furlong race and the finish should be quite interesting. The Leopard is in fine omndition and should be the real danger though having to carry 185 lbs, may be against him.
