Free China Has Bumper
Rice Crop In 1939
CHUNGKING, Dec. 17 (C.1.C.)During 1939, the total rice production in the fifteen provinces of Free China amounted to 422,000,000 quintals, according to a report of the National Agricultural Research Bureau of the Minis- try of Economic Affairs. This figure, continued the re- port, represents a seven per cent increase over the total production of 1938 or an eight per cent increase over the average of the last seven years before the war.
The 1939 figures even shattered the all time 1931 high when a total of 412,000,000 quintals of rice were produced in the fifteen inland provinces of China.
