European War threats dominated the cotton market and fluc- tuations have been confined within moderate limits. Belling. by apot-houses and liquidation has continued intermittently. Trade de- mand was not urgent and exports were poor. Needed rains being welcomed as very beneficial in the Western belt were off-setting the unwanted rains in the Central arid Eastern sections. The crop has been progressing satisfactorily, and there are no valid reasons" yet for killing the crop on the score of possible adverse weather dur- ing this month, which is, however, the most testing period for the plant,, We think that at present, there seems to be very prospect of the yield being more nearer at 12 million bales than at 11.4 mil- lion bales. Consequently we doubt that any import advance will occur during the imperiding crop movements.
NEW YORK RUBBER
The market opened tower on weaker foreign advices and trad- ing was dull throughout the session, but towards the close there was a partial recovery in response to encouraging London cables.
CHICAGO WHEAT
Sensational European developments, continually evoking fears of an impending outbreak of actual war, were reflected in higher $12.60 wheat prices. Renewed export demand and general foreign buying $3.80
were in evidence. Reports from Winnipeg indicate a large increase in Canadian exports.
