Market steady, with Home and Continental trade inquiry.
NEW YORK COTTON
An early easy appearance was displayed by the market with ini- tial prices slightly marked down. There was some new speculative buying, but was not suicient to absorb some foreign selling and hedging. Due to this, prices receded further, but recovered slightly towards the close. Fears that the export subsidy programme would be shelved by the Administration had an adverse effect on the market.
NEW YORK RUBBER
An initial buoyancy was again displayed by the market to-day. Prices advanced in sympathy with the steadiness of the London Imarket, and were maintained at the day's best levels.
CHICAGO WHEAT
Slightly steadier conditions prevailed in 'to-day's market, which was still inclined to be narrow. Some speculative buying on the reaction theory was noted.
