The market opened 1/4 of a cent higher for all deliveries as compared with Friday's closing rates.
Reflecting advices received from London 'and 'New York the market ruled quiet, but steady throughout the session. Good de- mand for actuals by consuming interests induced fair enquiries for futures by dealers, whilst speculators' activities were rather restricted.
After a fair, volume of business having been transacted on basis of quoted rates the market closed with a quietly steady undertone.
It was announced that total Malayan Shipments during Feb. 1999 amounted to 43,497 tons as against 43.332 tons during January 1939. Total Imports of Rubber from outside British Malaya during February 1939 amounted to 13,889 tons as compared with 19,049 tons In January 1938.

The undertone of the market was firm, following the steadiness in London and the strength of securities. Week-end profit-taking. however, partially reduced the early gains. Trading throughout the sesion was quiet.
