Heroin Charge
Given the benefit of the doubt.., Au Sang, 33, a seaman employed on a launch of the Royal Naval Dockyard, who was charged with possession of 200 heroin pills on board the launch on December 24, was discharged by Mr. R. Edwards at the Central Court yesterday when evidence of both the prosecution and the defence was heard.
Mr. H. Somerset Fitzroy. in- structed by Mr. C. A. Sutherton Russ, appeared for the defence and pleaded not guilty, stating that defendant had been "planted.”
A sergeant of the Dockyard told the Court that acting en informa-
tion received he went to launch No. 28 in which defendant was work-
ing. Au was found sleeping in his 'bunk. He was roused and asked

hidden between clothing in the locker. One of the parcels was opened and was found to contain pink pills.
Denying the charge, defendant said that he had been "planted." He had two keys to his löcker and had, about two months ago, lost one of them. His locker had not been opened by himself for nearly a week and for two nights previous to his arrest he had not slept in his bunk.
