|YEAR'S HARD LABOUR FOR EVERY GIRL..
All German girls under the age of twenty-five were recently brought within the scope of the order requiring unmarried women to do compulsory labour service for one year.
Hitherto the order has applied only to those employed in business effees or as civil servants. It was introduced last March to overcome the shortage of domestic help. In households and in agriculture.
Now all girls will be required, to serve their time either in industry, agriculture or
households.
It is estimated that by the new order between 300,000 and 400,000- girls will be available for this work every year.
Great idea!

Anxious to get to England "for war service," but having no money, a pretty 19-year-old girl stowed away on the liner Cathay at Ade- laide, Australia. She was a mem- ber of the Adelaide Voluntary Ald Detachment and her desire had been roused by stories of the possi-

Driving these vehicles in this city or Kowloon is certainly an accomplishment many people do boast about but are not really capable of and not only the ladies are due for this rib
Be that as it may, compli- ments, should be handed to those tiny machines which are sandwiched between their larger brothers and sisters. Spun around corners, driven up and down sidewalks, and thoroughly kicked about in undignifled fashion. Bobbing up a main thoroughfare one rainy morning at the fastest pace possible went one of the small cars. The driver scowled as he leaned on the steering gear ready to swing his little machine. about the corner, when suddenly the little chariot objected to its treatment by means of a blow-out. Appearing quite deflated him- selt, the driver emerged from the automobile, taking one good look at the flat tyre, he moved his lips in condemnation.
Still little regard was shown the useful small car, as its driver walk- ed to the front where he grasped. the bumper and bumping and pulling his vehicle walked two blocks down the street to a garage.
