Captain R. F. J. Onslow, M. V.O., DS.C., has assumed command at Portsmouth of the cruiser Coven- try, one of the War: bullt vessels which have recently been converted intò, anti-aircraft ship. In place her five Gin. guns the Coventry has 10 4in. guns on high-angle mount- ing multiple poms-poms with which she can put up an anti-aircraft barrage to protect а naval force. She has hitherto been commanded by Captain D. N. C. Tufnell, D.8.0.

Navy Just Completed
Messri. John I. Thornycroft & Co. Limited have recently com- pleted construction of a 45 ft. Diesel-engined Picket Boat for the Royal Navy which has, aroused most favourable comment. There is particular interest attaching to this craft inasmuch as it is the first Diesel-engined Picket Boat with a speed of over 20 knots to be put into servies in the Royal Navy. The speed actually obtained on trial was 21.42 knots.
