HONG KONG RIFLE ASSOCIATION
Council Meeting
A meeting of the Council of the Hong Kong Rifle Association was held at the Hong Kong Hotel last evening, at which the following members were present:-Col. N. M. S. Irvin. D.3.0., M.C. (Vice- President); Col. G C. Gowlland (Vice-President); Comdr." E. 照 Disbrowe (R.N.); Capt. and Brevet- Major G. P. Murray (1/Seaforth); Capt. H. & P. Hopkinson (General Stam; Capt, I. B. Trever (V.D.C.); A.S.P. W. La B. Sparrow (H.K.P.): Capt. G. Thomas (FE): Sub- Inspr. A. L. Hopkins (H.K.P.); Messrs. R. H. Woodman: J.E.C. Hood (2/R.W.F.); EDD. Wilson (1/R.U.R.); A. Urquhart (V.D.CJ); and W. Austin, with the acting Hon. Treasurer (Mr. J. Hargreaves) and the Hon. Secretary (Major D. H. Steers, OBE, RE),
Col. Irwin presided in the un- avoidable absence of Major R. D. Walker, M.C. (President).
The election as an Honorary Life Member of Field-Marshal Air, Cyril Deverell, G.C.B., K.B.E. Chief of the Imperial General Staff at the War Office, was unanimously coh- firmed.
The number of individual full members on August 1, 1937 was 421. as against 330 at the same time last year.
The President reported that the Invitation of the Council' extended to the following Officers at Com- mand Headquarters, to become Vice-Presidents of the Council, had been accepted:-

A letter was read from the Hon. Secretary of the Singapore Rifle Association stating that his organi zation agreed in toto with the proposals put forward nearly two years ago by the HK.R.A., regard- ing the conditions under which the Interport Trophy should be shot for, and it was unanimously agreed that the request of the SRA, that Hung Kong and Singapore should shout for this event before the end of the year, should be aceded to.
