FUTURE OF

PALESTINE

Different Possible Schemes

London, August 18.

The League Mandates' Commis- sion, which recently met in an extraordinary session to complete the discussion` of mandatory re- ports on Palestine for 1935 and 1936, and to hear the statement by the Colony Secretary on the British Government's proposals based on the recommendations of the Royal Commission, has adopt ed its report for submission to the League Council at its next meeting In September...

The report, according to Geneva Press messages. is in three parts. The first part is devoted to the review of the Administration - ör Palestine during 1935 and 1936. The second part deals with the various petitions received by the Commission, and in the third part the commission sets out the ad- vantages and disadvantages. of different possible schemes for the future of Palestine. -

In the first part of the report "Mind Your Own Business" the Commission shows its appre- MAJESTIC:-

ciation at the dificult position in which the Palestine Adminis- tton was placed by the distür- bances of last year, the responsi- bility for which, It is understood. was discussed very frankly,

Hollywood is concerned primarily with the production of entertain- ment and accordingly. deals but ttle with propaganda. Even when it does, the objective is still enter- tainment and the rest of it is in- cidental 1

When William Joyce Cowen, for. mer A. E. F. officer of the ne, wrote the novel, "They Gave Him a gun." he drew up an Indictment against war. As one who had been through it and could speak with authority, that was his privilege.

But when Metro-Goldsyn-Mayer bought the story, it was with the intention to make a picture that would entertain people and if it carried any message, they. them- selves. would Interpret it. The picture comes

the to

King's Theatre to-day, and establishes ts dual purpose.

LOVES OF A

DICTATOR

"Love's of ધ Dictator" 19 1 triumph! The story, adapted by Benn W. Levy from a story by H. G. Lustig and M. Logan, is con- cerned with the rise to high rank of a corintving young doctor and the mad romance between and the unhappy wife of the man whose favour raised him to power. It opens with a bride barring ner husband from her bedroom.

She was the Princess Caroline Mathilde, just married, for sons of state, to dissolute young King Christian VI of Denmark, whom she had seen for the first time the day before. Exquisite and fastidious she shuts ́ herself. up, while the irate king goes to Hamburg and revels in pleasures of the flesh.

In the third section the Commis- sion considers the first possib Uty of maintaining the Mandale in its present form, and then examines the drawbacks and advantage of other possibilities, particularly those of the proposed scheme for the Partition.

It is believed that the Commis- sion itself has suggested some variation of the British Schemie. Rather less consideration 1s given, according to these recourts, to the possibility of the redrafting of the present Mandate.

It is anticipated that the report will be found to give expression to no definite pp nion on the problem of the future of Palestine.

The report will not be published until the beginning of September, when it will be in the hands of members of the League Council. British Wireless Service.
