The Calcutta Football Club en- closure was packed recently when the All-India Olymple team play- ed an exhibition match against The Rest. Though All-India, won by the narrow margin of one goal,' the score being 3-2, the result falters them, for on the run of play The Rest were at least entitled to a draw.
It was a high class game,"though rather lacking in thrills, All-India played below expectation. Both the backs never rose above the medio- cre, while the halves compared un- favourably with the opposing tŕlo. In the forward line Dhvan Chand played his usual game, but Roop Singh was distinctly of colour. Shahabuddin played a brilliant game at outside right and Allen in goal" made ons great save from Henderson.
Carr was the most dangerous forward on the field, whom the All- India defence found great difficulty in holding in check. Penniger play- ed a fine constructive game, giving“ the impression that he is still In- dia's best centre-half. Bhalla and Shahnoor also played well. Bhalla acted as a sort of policeman to Roop Singh, who seemed to have been put off his usual game by the former's bustling method. Gordon was the best back on the field and Hodges gave him good support. He frequently smothered the combined moves of the All-India forwards...
