Harriman's Weekly Review

Saturday, Jan. 23.

Messrs. G. A. Harriman & Co.'s weekly share report and market review issued at noon to-day states:- 14

Business continues brisk in min ing shares but local descriptions are rather off colour, for there is no doubt the greater speculative possibilities of gold shares draws operators to the Manlia market leaving our local shares neglected and inclined to sag, from neglect,

moderate

There has been volume of business transacted in utility shares, China Lights being favoured up to $13.70 and the New shares dealt in at $10.357 Bales

of Hong Kong Electrics were negotiated at $58 and $55 closing. Star Ferries offer at $93 cum, on publication of the preliminary annual figures, which disclose the Anal dividend to be $3, making $5 for the year (against $5.50 for 1935). Telephones (old) eased to $28.75 sales the "New" to 310.50. Trams close in better enquiry, after earlier weakness, at $12.60 buyers.

their

Hotels have suffered usual (prior to Settlement) decline with sales down to $5.50, at which rate

there are now buyera. Weak holders, the aftermath of last year's overbought position keep this "stock from responding to the much improved trade in the Colony's hotel business. Realtys are a neglected stock around $4.50 nominal Lands have again come in for enquiry, and after sales at $34 can be taken at $341. Humphreys have appreciated to $9.75, Docks have improved to $14.65, and should higher.

KO Cements remain idle, either side of $11 Constructions (new)

can be taken at 45 cta. Providents (old) were depressed to $1.45, but close at $1.60 buyers $1.65 sellers and Wharfs improved to $110.
