Week End

(Continued on Page 19).

SEAFORTHS" DEBUT This week-end the Seaforth Highlanders will make their debut In the First Division against St. Joseph's. The Seaforths are an unknown quality but, with their, reputation of recently having won

the football championship or the Egypt Cominand, St. Josebph's will have to watch out for themistives. Į Personally, I should rather think that the soldiers will come of bet- Lex.

From the last week's perfor- mance, the Police should win their match against the Hong Kong Club this afternoon. The latter are weakened by the loss of J. Fleming in their forward line, who Was recently suspended by the Hong Kong Football Association for the rest of the season. The Club may, however, win the issue but the Folice appear to be wak- ing up and are proving themselves "tough customers" to deal with,

RETURN TO FORM

The Fusiliers should show a re- turn to form this afternoon, in which case they will find Eastern not very difficult to scope with The soldiers' performance last week was not in the least en- couraging but, perhaps, they were feeling "off-colour."

HOSPITAL VISIT The writer visited the hospital in question and was shown around the wards by the physician in charge.. The sights, he saw wère most heart-breaking, especially m. the T. B. section' and the Bables" Ward.

In the T. B.. Ward was an old man who should have died long ago. His was a most distressing case, half paralysed and in the very last stages of the disease, the man lay in constant agony, The doctors have done everything they can for him with the resources at their hands, and all they can do now is to wait for him to die. Opposite him was a young man, once a clerk in a Hong Kong once, whose days are also num- bered.

One does not see that smile, no matter how sick a person may be, which greets the visitor usually Here their eyes are dull and their life no expressions blank, for longer holds a meaning for them. They know they suffer horribly but they have to bear it-they know just how much the doctors have done fo them, and cannot do more.

It is plain enough that the trou- ble here in Hong Kong is that the coolle community must be in- structed in many things and what could be better than by adopting a metfiod similar to that employed by the Shanghai Police. Still further is the fact that many of
