Plans have aeen maar for the e-opening of St. Francis Home for street sleepers, which dia such excellent work in. Kowloon last winter. This home.
which" was directed by the members the Third Order of St. Francis Catholle laymen), was zun Q.. different lines to most of the shel- ters for street sleepers, for in- stead of aiming at giving a place to sleep to as large a number as possible. It
sought to give good accommodation to a limited num- ber but to establish personal con- tact with all who come.
FACILITIES APPRECIATED From the beginning the facil ties afforded by the Home were greatly appreciated by the ́di tute men who came to it, and after a time it became more like a hostel than a shelter as, for the most part, the same men came re- gularly. Each night some of the members of the Third Order at- tended the Home, one of them in turn sleeping there, and after a short, time they became very friendly with the men and used to talk with them for a long time every evening. The spontaneou? gifts of some who heard of the work made it possible for the home to supply the men also with some food and drink, and on spe- cial occasions it was possible to give them a good meal
