Paris. July 22,
The Spanish insurgents recaptured Barcelona early อด Wednesday morning according to despatches here, which add that severe street fighting between the police, who were supported by armed workers, and the civilians who sided with the rebels, lasted throughout the night.
When the insurgent troops entered the city at dawn they rapidly succeeded in dispersing the police and their auxiliaries and could find no trace of the Communist Executive Committee which had been installed in the course of the last few days! The Com- mittee had apparently taken to their heels.
BATTLE FOR CAPITAL
The despatches further state that the recapture of Barcelona was welcomed by a large part of the population as it implies an end to the three days' reign of terror, the brunt of which was directed against all persons suspected of Fascist leanings.
