NEW OPAL-PINK RAINPROOFS FOR SUMMER EVENINGS
We need have no fear of thun- der-storms on summer nights, for- Schiaparelli has launched an idea for an evening rainproof. It is in bright, opal pink with a hangman's hood and falls to the ground cape- wise. It is opaque and shadows the new slender waist-formed gown of printed persuasion worn beneath. These prints are legion and appear"in lovely floral satins and silks for formal wear.

The evening binder or "line" frames the face in Matamy fashion. with curls taking a backward turn in the top opening. In short, it Is an excellent, hair dy, and is attractive in silken crêpe to match the contrast on an evening gown. bright Topal pink for example. which surrounds the base of a tunic on an amethyst-toned silken crêpe Kown. This tunic opens down the centre front and gains interest frfom a shoulder drape when drawn up over the back corsage. Opaline tints in rose, blue, Green and yellow sway colour interest in fabrics for day and evening wear. while one new narrow striped muslin with a crinkle is reserved for fête gowns. slender and youth- ful with little fitted jacket tops.
New fastenings to skirts of suits show zippers' running down the centre front of straight lines, and some jackets are tailored from. plain viyella in bright colours.. An afternoon 'sult, on the other hand, is tailored from dark red, black and white checked surah slik, which also looks distinguished, in purple for a frock worn under a long dark coat.
Most of the hats in this collec- tion tilt backwards. with the new black lacquered kid used to form an all-round wide Breton type of brim beneath A short flower-pat Crown. Black straws are stiff brimmed and shady with stalked bunches of sweet peas placed as though on a ledge beneath crowns at the back, while smaller straws of pillbox toque persuasion may have one rose with its long stalk thrust through the crown

PRINTED SILKS FOR SUMMER
Printed silks for summer dresses are Very flowery. On a white ground is a riot of tiny gay blos- soms; on a soft green ground lar- ger flowers are grouped in garden. posies; on a brown foundation ap pear leaf shapes in tones from pal- est green to deepest russet. A poppy-garden design is attractive; so is a tulip-iime silk.
Then there are two-piece suits and simple dresses developed in heavy silks printed with orchard rather than flower garden pro- duce. One example, showing ap ples rosy-red and green on a deep cream ground, seemed to be a good and practical proposition. The dress was simple to outline, a smail kilted frill of white orgatty die marking a bib effect on the bodice. The coat, half-length and swagger, had large puffed sleeves, no collar, and bow tied close up
SÜMMERY EVENING
FROCKS
Pleated skirts, tunics, soft frills disposed about the nëckilne or round the shoulders are features. of the new evenlåg frocks for the
summer season.
Chiffon printed in bright colours. taffeta fallle which may be the background for lacquered designs, lace (frequently this is embroider- ed), and plain white crêpes. chiffen, organza with organdie are favourite materials.
Coats of plain net or chiffon are still shown with printed frocks which are also worn with match- ing coats or coatees.
CASCADE OF CURLS
Fair, fluffy-haired girls wili.de- light in this pretty hairdressing, which is especially suitable for hats that tip down over the right ere as the "pretiles" come on the left side.
Soft waves run back on the right- from the centre parting, but a froth of light, baby curls on the hint of any other side saves severity. These drop in a little cascade down one side, and stray coquettishly on to the forehead.
The whole head has that charm- ing look of casual carelessness that is, in reality, carefully arranged!
This centre parting is particu-s larly suitable for the girl with an oval face and a fairly low, broad forehead.
