WATER CUT IS POSSIBLE

Unless Heavy Ram Falls Before May 15

RESERVOIRS LOW

Extension on the Colony's water restrictions are to be made unless rain falls before

May 15.

In making this announcement yesterday the Colonial Secretary (Hon. Mr. R. A. C. North) said the levels in island and mainland re- servoirs were low and that a heavy fall in the coming week was neces- sary to replenish them.

Officials of the Public Works De- partment stated that reservoirs were at approximately the same levels as at the beginning of May last year,

Although nothing definits has ret been fixed it is possible that the existing hours of water' sup- ply will be curtailed by a fur- ther two hours,

Rainfall this year has been much below the average, the total so far being only 9.82 inches against an average of 12.60.

The moderate falls of a fortnight are saved the Colony from an exrler application of further re- strictions. A curtailment of hours of supply was, contemplated in the middle of April but the timely falls alleviated the position slightly.
