The colour vogue has influenced sports glove-wear greatly, as well as that for afternoon, and the re- vival of hand-workmanship has resulted in a wealth of hand-kult- ted or crocheted sports gloves, all In gay mercerized cottons. These are short in the wrist and usually finished with a tight roll of dib- bing, and you can find them in vivid greens and blues: coppery reds and yellows, well as in the ever-practical white and matúral shades.

Usually the palms of these models are of kid to ensure better wear, and the backs and gauntlets alone are of crepe de chine, taffeta, pique, or- gandle, or linen. Fine gheer wea- ves are always best, for a fabric glove, it must be remembered, is Hlable to increase the apparent alze of the hand-particularly if it hap- pens to be in a light colour.
HAND-BAG TO MATCH
If you want to own a really well- assorted ensemble, then let your hang-bag be made in the same fa- bric as your gloves, Parisiennes are carrying bags in the new pin-spot-. ted silks, and wearing gloves to match. The small spots of white on dark grounds are sumciently discreet to make the hand look as small as it would in a plain navy blue, brown, or black glove..
Among the novelties in gloves are alashed openings up the back of the hands which are laced togather with leather thongs. arid - fark gloves with the seams fastened with lacings of brightly coloured suede. I have also seen suede mo- dels with elaborately quilted effects upon their cuffs, and others de- corated with colourful appliques of Httle leather flowers,

The
colour over white sounds like a dressing-table, but is really charm- ing. A white frilly taffeta under- skirt and slip corsage only just gleams through this closely-spotted all-cherry-coloured muslin... Both bodice and skirt are fried and pleated into becoming Unes. A wide belt of white kid encircles the waist and forms braces to the pinafore type of blouse. Handbag hat and shoes are in white.. and the hat has a wreath of multi-colour- ed fruits. Cherry-red is a far more becoming summer shade than scarlet or tomato. It will prove to be a rival to the popular blue.
Many of the later hat models show a tendency to place highly coloured fruits and flowers on to a neutral foundation of mushroom tints in tuile, with layers of the дате beige and wine-shaded ostrich feather.

SAIL-BROWN FOR
BEACH WEAR
New clothes for favourite sum- mer activities-tennis and swiza- ming, or walks have become the chief tople of interest among wo- men, writes a correspondent.
Colour distinguishes the clothes for seaside and country wear which are now to be seen in the shops.
Rich. brilliant" hues gathered from the pictures of oriental artists will be seen on beaches this year; In the coolness of our own gar- dens we shall appear in wildflower colours, delicate harebell blues, and [lly-of-the-valley green.
Colour contrasts are important in beach ensembles, Swimming suits, shorts; bathing wraps, trousers and sports shirts have been planned by experts to provide women' with 's shade card upon which they can ring the changes for their individ- ual colour schemes.
FOR SUNLIT BEACHES
Rose and navy blue form a new alliance, as also do sail-brown and nigger, relieved by touches of oat- meal
Sa-brown is an ideal shade for sunlit beaches. It makes a amart two-piece which will suffice for the whole day at the seaside. The backless dress in boucle cotton but- tons down the front with "bak" buttons, and can be slipped on over a bathing sult.
It has plaited shoulder straps crossed over the back, and joined to the demire Peter Pan collar. When the short-sleeved sac coat is added. the ensemble assumes slightly formal air, and oan be worn when lunching at a seaside hotel or restaurant. This is one of many such ensembles which wo- men will and in the stores.
Shantung silk, a holiday favour- ite because of its crease-resisting virtues, is used for a smart new bathing wrap, which has shorts, trousers and jumper to match.
Trousers in natural shantung are made in a new shape, fairly nar- row with no turn-ups, and belted at the waist.
The little nigger-brown shantung shorts permanent turn-ups, and are worn with a tallored, shirt in natural shantung, with short slee- ves and buttons down the front.

A tennis ensemble is the Intest Idea for sports enthusiasts. A sleeveless tennis dress in white washing slik has its matching hip- length coatee, with long sleeves and a craya: tie at the neck.
The dress is cut to give plenty of freedom for movement, and shows an interesting new silhouette. An encrusted sash ties at the back. and below 1t the flared skirt 18. pleated, to give a slim line.
FOR GARDEN DAYS
Harebell-blue spongy inaterial makes a charming dress for long jazy days in the garden. Pleat- ing òn the short sleeves and the two Akirt pockets. Flower- shaped glass buttons fasten the shirt waist top.
A maize-coloured suit-frock will look well on the river, or on coun- try rambles. It is in linen, and has a basqued top laced-up with aboe- lace tles, which are slotted through two embroidered plaques in brown and orange.
The little pockets on the skirt and the short sleeves are bound with brown to match.
