The country is jubilant over the reports of a successful rald on a very large scale in the region of Gojjam. The Abyssin- tans penetrated behind the Adswä-Adigrat-Aksum line, surpris ed the tank depots, kiled 412 white Italian troops and return- ed safely. A daring raid behind the Italian lines at the northern front is claimed in a despatch from Imru, Governor of Gojjam.
He declares that he sent out two -fying columns from his head- quarters to the west of Aksum in the direction of the Mareb River with the object attacking the Ita lan communications. The columns returned safely after destroying fliteen munition dumps, two tanks and a number of lorries.
