The vessel will be able to pass under all the Thames bridges in her service area at any state of the tide, and the design will also permit of operation in shallow waters and narrow canals.
CONSTRUCTION' OF HULL The form of the vessel was bun- specially designed by the ders and tested in the Ted- dinion Tank withi a view to the reduction of wave formation and wash to an absolute minimum when travelling at full service speed. The building was carried out under the special survey of Lloyd's Register of Shipping, and this will entitle the vessel to be classed 100 A1 for the intended service. The requirements of the " Board of Trade and the Port of London Authority" are also fully complied with.

The launching of the all-welded ship Moira marked another step in the industrial progress of the Tyne, which has been described as a river of invention." There is not a single rivet in the ves- sel's whole structure. The Moira has been built for the Marria Company. of Oslo, and is 245ft. long, 421t, ain, wide, and will carry 2240 tons of oil.
