London, May 23, The King has intimated that he will accompany the Queen to the Marie Tempest Jubilee Matinée, organised by The Daily Tele- graph at Drury Lane, Theatre this afternoon.
It had already been announced that the Queen had consented to attend the Matinée, the proceeds of which are for founding the Marie Tempest Ward for actors and actresses in St George's Hos pital.

GORDON SHEPHARD PRIZE Lieutenant Nell McIntyre Kemp, R.N. (Flying Officer, R.AF.), who has won the first prize in the Gordon Shephard Memorial Essay Competition of the RAF, 18 the fust naval officer to gain a prize in this competition. Leutenant Kemp entered Dartmouth College as a naval cadet in January, 1924. He became a sub-lieutenant in March, 1931, and it was after serving as such in the sloop Hare- bell that he was accepted for fying training as a plot in the Fleet Air Arm in September, 1932. He was promoted to Leutenant while under training in May, 1933.
