The organisers of the St. John Ambulance Association and Brigade annual dinner-cabaret-dance, must have felt highly gratified at the splendid response to their appeal for help when, a crowd of over four hundred people attended the function on Saturday night at the Hong Kong Hotel

During the course of the evening, Sir William Shenton read the following cable from the Director, Mr. Alfred Morris, who is at present at Swatow:-
