Mr. E. Cock Elected President

The 44h annual general meeting of the Institution of En- . gineers and Shipbuilders of Hong Kong was held in the Insti- tution's premises yesterday, with Mr. H. R. Latham in the chair. Prior to this meeting, an extraordinary meeting was held at which the resolution, that the Institution should give up the the eastern section of the present premises was adopted on proposal of Mr. E. Cock, seconded by Mr. Se T. Williamson. The chairman mentioned that the removal would be effected as soon as either the Institution or the landlords could find someone to take over the premises. He was sufficiently optimistic that this "would be done in the course of this half-year. In the mean-

time, however, it was impossible, to reduce the expenses.

Admiral Sir Frederic C Dreyer, K.CE.
