After an absence of 14 years on foreign service tho 1st Battalion fordon Highlanders arrived at Redford Barracks, Edinburgh, to take over fra the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, transferr- ed to Tidworth

The battalion, over 600 strong, includes about 130 time expired due. to return to civil life.

Since leaving Catterick in 1932 the battalion has been stationed in India and Palestine' It saw much arduous service if the frontier town of Peshawar, and performed Faluable police work in the troubled northern gateway to India,

Historic Reunion

On the way home the battalion participated in a istorio reunion. with the 2nd Battalion at Gibral- tar. This was attended by General Sir Ian Hamilton, Colonel of the regiment, who travelled Bouth specially for the occasion, and by Major-General Sir Charles Haring- ton, Governor of Gibraltar.
