(From Our Special Correspondent) Canton Dec. 7. - The foreign trade committee..of the Canton Chamber of Commerce bas recommended that the Cham- ber should continuetqclamour for support of the Canban Muni- cipal Government in the move- ment to use Chinese language as the official and binding text in contract between Chinese ard foreign arms.

The foreign trade committee holds the view that even in many treaties concluded between China and certain foreign countries.. the Chinese text is binding. There is also an English version, but it is not the official text. The com- mittee, further points out that in the recent agreement between the Canton Municipal Government and the American arm of Mac- Donald & Gorman, which con- structed the Pearl River Bridge. the official. text is in Chinese,
With these examples as preced- ents. the Chamber will again urge the City Government to support their move to use Chinese as the official versions of all trade agree, ments with foreign merchants. Foreign Arms however, belleve that this is a matter of arrange- ment and that no governmental support is necessary.
