NEW YORK STOCK AND COMMODITY QUOTATIONS

AMERICAN ORIENTAL FINANCE CORPORATION AND S. E. LEVY & CO.

New York, Nov. 15. The American Oriental Finance Corporation's report through their New York agents, Messrs. E. A. | Pierce & Co., states:--

Stocks: The subsidence of liqui- dation of Utilities encouraged fresh buying this morning and was fol- lowed by profit-taking this after noon. The weakness of Gold Stocks in the Anal hour is possibly due to uncertainty over the European monetary situation.

.

Whent: The strength of Stocks, and Corn induced a sharp advance, which was followed by profit-taking on the continued dry weather in the West and South-West. Com- ment on the shortage of rainfall in the semi-arid sections of the Win- ter Belt exerted some influence.

Cotton: There was a good de- mand by "spot houses for near Axing prices. The December liqui- dation was well absorbed. The off- take in Cotton goods was moderate. The Yarn market was irregular and the basis continues to be very high, 30 with offerings light.

Rubber: The market rallied on steadier London cables and cn other markets. Larger dealers were buy. ers and there was some commission house liquidation. Trade interests are holding off.

Flash: Brokers' loans decreasd by $8,000,000.

New York, Nov, 13. Messrs. S. E. Levy & Company's agents: Messrs. White, Weld & Co.

report, through their New York office states:

ing feeling here that inflation may now be attempted through the credit route within the Gold Stan- dard, or at least without further near term devaluation, are causing the weakness of gold shares. The weakness of the Canadian and Lon don markets was also a factor. We believe that further selling is likely but we would consider the present time as a favourable opportunity for investment, rather than for speculation in the leading stock in this group. Meanwhile, our reeling

is that the current rise in industrial

shares has gone about high enough in view of the outlook for bear- term carnings and we would not add to our holdings of these stocks until some reaction has occurred. Eusiness done: 1,540,000 shares.

Bonds: All grades of bonds are better.

Wheat: Further reports of frost from the wheat districts gave rise to additional short-covering. The market is otherwise unchanged. Total sales: 17,383,000 bushels,

kind of atmosphere of menace was created. Things were harder over there. In further talk he said that, although the English had been great opponents and they had had a lot of bad weather and made some, he bad figured out from the beginning that his team would win by 9,000 (they won by 3,000),

The players were not badly fagged after their five-day test, but sat and talked as the morning Wore onl It was noticed that Mr. Hughes, who held his cards near his face in his two hands; the right at the top fingering the corners like spokes of a steering-wheel as though he would steer his cards to a wla, did not arrange his cards in suits. His idea, he explained. was that an opponent sometimes got a clue from where you drew your card when playing. He arranged them in order for play but not for defence. He and Mr. Ingram had played together in North London clubs for over twenty years. It was interesting to know that the West End does not have it all its own way in London bridge.
