"Loridor, Aug. 15.

No other country can cope so successfully with women's fashion requirements for the next two months as our own. There are nu foreign dress artists who are so thoroughly "au fait” with the intricacies of our country amuse- ments For actugi games and sports England always had ape- cialists, and of late years the sports specialist has added eit and chic to all garments neces- sary to fe in the country.

In the next two months the majority of the exclusive, and now generally well-dressed, so- cial section are up North for the various house parties and north- erh games.

It is the average folk now in- dulging in the many pleasures of the country who can be so well equipped nowadays for sport and" pleasure. In London and at our large country stores we can dis- cover exactly the right tennia shirt, pullovers, and swimming suit. Also we, shall find the per- fect ensemble" that always looks well for the spectator at the out- of-door games, country shows, and early autumn race meetings. It is economical to try to combine one coat that goes with a simple wool house frock, that can also. have a matching, short tailored skirt, and an Angora" or striped alik shift.

Exquisite Shades ·

The latest shirts and blouses, specially destined to wear under suede or leather coats, also look delightful with our darker tweed suits. The new Angola blouses are mostly in Bright and lovely colours. We all know what exqui- site shades these fine wools can be dyed.

Soft, light and warm, they are fitted cosily into the waist by a ribbed band. They are ideal for packing.

Flame colour relieved a black tweed suit and a pale mauve was attractive with a navy pleated skirt and dark blue leather coat, Under a golfer brown suede zip- fastened coat a bright yellow blouse, was worn with good effect.

These Angora shirts are cut to the neckbose, close or bateau- shaped, and have platri long moulded sleeves to the wrist.

The cleverness of leaving the neck-line to depend on its finish either with a sporting stock or more elaborate bow assures of the blouse Tuinlling a variety of destinies. It can be worn for pure-sport or equally well under the smartest to

Jerseys and. Pullovers.

Our leading English houses al- ways specialize in an enormous variety of Jetsers and pullovers. The newest jerseys or sports coats (so-termed) in wool, woven or knitted,

are undoubtedly cut much longer. Nothing could be more becoming or more sensible wear than a simple wool coat, buttoning straight up to near the base of the neck, finished with a variety of straight or turti-back collars and sometimes revers. These coats are belted and the long sleeves are either put in secti-Rağlan form, or from a fitted yoke below the shoulder. All such trifles must be carefully considered by the would-be-buyer."

!

London is now full of novelties coming under the elastic category of "aport," each jersey, cardigan, shirt and pullover being very carefully cut and fashioned. Even 30, it is up to the individual wea- rer to see that her choice is made carefully.

Sum girls look best in the many shorter cardigans and coats to the waist-line. Very charming are the short, ribbed, wool cardi- gans cut just to reach over the waistline, with four sporting look- ing pockets fastened with queer wood or plain steel buttons Older women will welcome the longer and straighter coat

Waistcoats

There are plenty of new walst coats. Many in pale Phades of knitted silks will look well with linen threads för early Septem- ber days. Others, for storm and rain, are of fool cut, one with the cardigan coát." These waist-✨ coats come up high like a man's, so are really, practical for bad, weather to wear with our rough tweed skirts, mackintosh, or lea- ther coats:

Wrong Shoes

High-heeled shoes too fragile stockings, or any fanciful, fal-lal would spell ruination to even the best of sports outat. There is more danger of wrong shoes and stock- ings being worn in these days than there la in choice of hats. other one today. Let me adviseÐUFU you what to do about it. There la going to be a wide range of hats and dresses for the "early birds" so instead of lingering over the 11 n'clock cup of coffee at the Hotel, my advice to you is to go Maizes's first and get the hat or dress you

it up. Don't forget that the cool season is coming on and of course you know that it will mean mute dances and parties, and then there Is the September race meeting- you know you must not miss that. The entire stock is to be cleared at cost and below cost so don't iniss this opportunity.

FLORAL TAFETTA

Lane Crawford's are well-known for their “judgement” By this i mean that they manage to time the arrival of their new goods al- most to perfection everytime. Their latest consignment is äll· that may be wished for. I saw ane gown in floral tafetta, the latest style, in pink with blue and yellow flowers. Another was 'in heavy crepe with the square effect on the sleeves and with a low back. There were really so many of them that I cannot remember, all the details, but I am not exaggerating when I say that it was really a treat to be in the Ladles Balon with all thosé békutiful göwits and dresses to feast one's eyes on.

WHITE FELTS

How many of you are aware that Mayo's have just received a consignment of white felts?

But seriously, though. Mayo's has the cutest selection of white felts and you need not be told how well they can make hats. ... they are like Alladin, only instead of ex- changing new lamps for old, they turn your old hat into a new one! If you want to be smart at the. next race meeting, buy one of the nice white felt hats that are stock-
