England Wins Easily "On the Craigengower green, Eng- land defeated Majaya by 25 shots to 9. Although the score indicates that it was rather one-sided, the match was in fact a keen struggle, with Malaya fighting an uphill tussle throughout. It was partly due to inexperience that they fall ed to obtain their scoring shots. for at one stage they were only six shots behind.

The match was seen at its best. between 'the 13th and 15th heads, when Maaya put up a keen tussle to pull up from 18-3 to 16-9, but after this they failed to score.

Bright Interport Prospects

(BY SALMON ")

The prospects of Hong Kong in the forthcoming interport appear exceptionally bright by reason of the fact that the star swimmer of the local side, L. Rɑrs Pereira, is in great form at the moment and is swimming better this season than in the . whole of his brillianti carter,

In the V.R.C. sports on Saturday, he gave the spectators a very line arhibition when he won the handicap race of 440 yards. He returned the excellent time of 5 minutes 41 seconds and though this is by no means a bath record, it is the best that Pereira has been able to chalk up in his career. Pereira was swimming with A. "In the diving event, Pereira "received a handicap of four points from Ed, da Roza and won by the narrow margin of half a point. The only other "A" Class event on the programme, the 150 yards three-styles, fell ti Pereira who won by a touch- from T. L Paret in a thrilling finish, vi

The opening race on the pro- grümme WLA not very exciting, although the winner did not come The 440 home too comfortably, yards as stated tumed out to be a race between Pereira (scratch) and AA Roza (receiva 12). Rosa swam comfortably in front of Pereira over the first eight lengths and looked as though he was go

In the seventeenth length, Roza drew in front of Pereira and looked all over a winner, but after the final tura Pereira put on an extra spurt which won him the race by a mat- ter of inches:

Medley Race

Ladies Event ·

The handicapping was slightly at fault in the ladies race and Miss Doris Hunt found herself faced with an extremely difficult tesk in trying to catch Miss M. White who had a concession of twelve seconds. Miss O. M. Basto made her debut in local aquatic events and gave the impression that with a bit of training she will go far."

"The rest of the programme was quite good, the diving and the breast stroke event" proving very satisfactory while the water poln match which brought "the pro- gramme to a close proved to be of quite a high standard.---
