A flim which Mr. Jack Hulbert has been making in London "Jack Ahoy" is causing a little trouble in Shanghai.

Under the neading, "Another. film disgracing China". (says Reuter), Shanghai Munki cipal Council have issued a re- port condemning the screen por- trayal of Chinese, characters in an unfavourable light.

It quotes freely from a local journal which refers to the pro duction by a London film com- pany of a picture "which, when" completed, will bring disgrace on China."

The Journal- describles Mr. Hulbert as "playing the leading. and heroic role of chasing Chinese bandits and robbers all oven a British warship." ft

It demands the banning of the film: China, and urges the Chinese Consul in London to protest against the release. ・ of "Jack Ahoy anywhere, in the world.
