The English team showed a great de- fence in the, second half, and, then rallied, but could not win. To sum up, the Scots played clever and effective football. 'Interporters' Narrow Victory
Unexpectedly stern opposition was offered Ho Ka Lau and Teai Wat Pui by Captain Cannon and H. Owen Hughes, when these two pairs met yesterday in the quarter finals. The match, which was eventually won by the Chinese pair, went the full distance.
Tai Wai Pui gave a sparkling display throughout the match and was mainly responsible for the British pair's defeat. Ho Ka Lau was playing much below for and gave little support to his partner.
H. Owen Hughes played a parti- cularly brilliant game in the second set, and it was mainly due to his good, work up at the aet that this set was won by the British pair. Captain Cannon was inclined to be erratio and frequently sent the ball to the net.
Ho Ka Lau and Tsui Wai Pui won by 1-6, 4-3 and wil! now meet the Runjabi Cousins in the semi-final.
