epic of thrills and glamorous adventures is now showing at the Central Theatre with Busier Crabbe in the starring role as Tarzan."

It recounts the adventures of a smail band or whites who pen- etrated into the African Jungles the home of Tarzan. In this party are: Doctor Brooks, middle-aged archeologist; his daughter, Mary Bob Hall, who joined the party principally because he was in love with Mary Jeff Herbert, adven-, turer and ne'er do well; and Nick

Moran ex-convict.

In this trackless waste they are beset with perils, seen and unseen, that would daunt the hardiest spirit. Beasts of the jungle stalk them at every turn, daring ex- ploits and thrilling rescues succeed one another with machine-gun rapidity and Tarzan is the centre of the whirl-wind of action. 1.

Buster Crabbe as Tarzan `per- forms. Incredible deeds of ́ agility and valour in a sensational man- ner. “Jacqueline Wells in the feminine, lead is a charming ac tress and is richly endowed with pulchritude. Bob Hall is splendid in a featured role.

"STAGE MOTHER"

Showing At The Queen's

IN

Brilliantly portrayed by Alice Brady, "Stage Mother" now showing nt the Queen's Theatre, is u story of mother whose only ambition to make her daughter into a famous actress. Despite the bitterness of having witnessed the tragic death of her husband on the stagé, Kitty Lorraine (Alice Brady) in- tends to make her daughter Shirley (Maureen O'Bullivan) into a stage "star" but the way she rules over her daughter, causes many a quarrel bet ween mother and daughter, and the way in which this is finally solved helpe to make this somewhat mediocre film into a rather entertaining one,

Alice Brady, although she carries off the role perfectly, looks rather young as the mother of a girl of twenty, while the other players including such well- known names ns Franchot Tone and. Phillips Holmes have only compare atively small parts

'

The picture, however, has many. interesting sidelights such as the sing ing and dancing sequences, while the dancing of Maureen O'Sullivan is a delight to watch.

At the end of his performance the console was raised för him" to take his applause; but, to his dis comfort, remained raised longer than necessary, and he seemed to be, searching for some means of lowering himself out of sight when a voice called; "Press" button A. mate.

The opening scenes were taken in Switzerland above St. Moritz, 6,000 feet up, and the magnificen! background lends colour and charm to the uproarious comedy situa- tions.
