Chinese Steals Goods Before Mr. Balfour at the Cen- tral Police Court on Baturday Chinese named Lee morning a Wai Yin, described as unemployed, was charged with thefts of a woollen sweater and 靄 pair of white gloves, which belonged to the Ping Ping Foreign Goods Shop in Queen's Road Central.
Ng Kee, a Chinese delective, prosecuted. told the Court that while he Wes on duty near Queen's Road Central, on Friday afternoon, he saw the defendant secretly enter the above mention- ed shop, "and under the pretence of being a customer, he stole a sweather and a pair of gloves and hid them on his person, trying to walk out of the door. He im- mediately approached the defend- ant and had him arrested.
The defendant pleaded guilty and was sent to gaol for one month.
MARINE COURT CASES

A Chinese boatman, named Chan Tal of Passenger Boat No. 4939V, appeared before Command- er Hole at the Marine Court on Saturday morning charged with sailing without a mast-light last Friday evening.

Chinese Keeper Fined
A Chinese named Leung Ying appeared before, Mr. Wynne-Jones at the Kowloon Magistracy, charged with keeping an oplum divan, and unlawful possession of

It was stated by a Chinese de- tective that the defendant was the principal keeper of this oplum divan which was in "Au Tow Kok Village" Kowloon, and during the raids, there were several oplum smokers in the premises.
His Worship, however, imposed a fine of $168 on the defendant or eight weeks hard labour la de- fauit.
In addition to the fine, an order for the confiscation of the twc maces of prepared optum was al- so made.
