Lisbon New York advices reported the Madrid cross-rate at 5.08 1/3 Dall
With the exception of the Shang- hai rate which was unchanged at 110 and the Bangkok rate which was put down to 126 1/4, other rates were put up.
Market
Firm during the early part of the morning but towards the close the tone was a shade easier.
Sterling
The market opened with sellers at 1/6 29/32 but business was soon arranged at 1/5 15/16 for near and also for 18th January. Towards the close offers at 1/5 15/16 were accepted for February delivery followed by transactions at 1/5
( 29/32 for „January. The market closed with probable sellers at 1/5 29/32 January/February and 1/5 15/18 second half February/March,

Sailing out of Hamburg, the Padua has created a new record by entering Wallardo port in 66 days The Tessel experienced strong winds practically all the way and made steady progress. The officers and crew are very pleased with the remarkable voyage they have made.
The Padua breaks a record which has been held for the last fifteen years by the French vessel Crillon, The Padua will load grain for the return journey to Europe. Reuter
