AT THE GLOUCESTER.

Wherever did all the people lunch before they had that pleasant room at the Gloucester to go to? It is always crowded; in fact, many of our local busi- ness men make it a regular meet- ing-place. For instance, there is usually a lawyers' table, a brokers' table, a bankers' table, and an aviation table. On Monday..the latter was a large one, for I saw Mr. Vaughan Fowler, Mr. Wynne "Jones (a great enthusiast). Mr. Bobble Howes (who combines a raasion for aeroplanes with a passion for pickied cabbage!). and at least three others. A few tables away was Mr. Rowley, one of the instructers from Lau Chau: On the verandah was Mr. Martel Hall, with an aperitif and some friends, and Mr. R. 8. Johnson. with a glass of (believe it or not!). tomato juice. At lunch I recog- rised Mr. Justice Wood chatting to Mr. Williamson, Mr. Hunter, and Mr. Wadeson. ther along were Major Dowbiggin- and Mr. Hancock, And at the other end of the room were Mr. and Mrs. Fraggatel, who are spending the winter in the East by way of a change from "their lovely villa in Capri.
