SADKO WINS AUTUMN AUTUMN
Stewards Order Diana Bay's Withdrawal At Last Minute
$6,000 DIVIDEND GOES A-BEGGING
(BY MORNING . DEW”
The final race meeting of the season was packed with sensation, and the day's sport which opened unpro- misingly "finished up with mufficient excitement to keep the racing community gossiping for the eight weeks that lies ahead of us before the Annual Race Meeting falls due.
Diana Bay, hot favourite for the Autumn Champions was withdrawn by order of the Stewards, ten minutes after the race was due to be run. There were only two other starters, and the race fell to Sadko, who won from King's Justice.
Two upsets in racing occurred during the afternoon. These were in the fourth and seventh races, which had been selected for the daily doubles and the result was that no punter managed to spot both the winners. The pool which was over $6,000was consequently divided be- tween those who managed to select the winner of the fourth race.
NIGHT STAR BEATEN IN FAST
RACE
A cleven bit of riding by the Champion Jockey won the Aus- tralians Champions for Woodland Stag. Frost would almost cer- tainly have won all the three Champions had Diana Bay not been debarred from the race of the day.

The "second race was equally dull; Pride of Tsingtao (Ip) start- ing against Daylight Eve (Reard). "The Chinese-owned pony led by a couple of lengths most of, the way round, but Daylight Eve drev up at the head of the straight and in the run home proved too much for Ip's mount, winning by five lengths.
The First Sensation There were three names halst ed for the Autumn Champions, viz: Diana Bay (Frost), Sadko (Soares), and King's Justice (Heard). The betting was all on Diana Bay, there being only 390 winning tickets on the other two. Sadko. had been 'mounted and taken out to the starting post when Diana Bay's name W21 withdrawn from the board, King's Justice was then sent out and in an uninteresting race, Sadko-won from the grey by two lengths. King's Justice led all the way - til the two ponies came to the bend before the straight when Soares put his pony in front just as he entered the straight and the
