PILGRIMAGE FILM
Goa Of The Day Of St. Francis Xavier
Many clizeris yesterday mor- ning took advantage of the op- portunity to see pictures of the last pilgrimage to the famous shrine of St. Xavier, at Goa. which was shown at the King's Theatre by Jean Armstrong. "well- known' writer and lecturer.
The picture was taken by Fa- ther. Letellier and was so realis- tic that it could not help but mentally transport even the most unimaginative to the ancient city. once the Rome of the Far East and now just a crumbling mass of the ruins, out of which arises Church of Bom Jesus, the holy shrine of St. Francis Xavier, kept in perfect preservation.
The letturer informed her aud- ience of the wonderful cures that have been effected by the inter- cession of the Saint and told how she herself had been cured of an lilness, which had rabbed her of the use of her limbs and her men- tal faculties, just by kissing the feet of the remains of the great servant of the Lord,
She gave an outline of the bis- tory of Goa, and told of its fevers and plagues which were such as to make it necessary for the om- elals to pass a rule preventing visitors from going there. These diseases miraculously disappeared at the time of a pilgrimage.
After the pictures of the pilgri mage bad been shown, a reel of film depicting the recent visit of the devout to Bancton Island. where St. Xavier, met, his death were shown.

Charlie Chan, that bland Chin- ese detective from Hawall, wili walk the
screen again when Charlie Chan's Greatest Case" the new Fox production, comes to the King's Theatre beginning on Wednesday. It is Eari Derr Gig Eers' latest story, and was adapt ed for the screen by Loster Col and Marlon Orth.
Charlle Chan is perhaps the most famous character in pictures to-day In "The Blank Camel, "Charlie Chan's Chance" and "Charlie Chan Carries On." he created a following equalled by no other.
Warner Oland, premier portrayer of Chinese characters, has established himself so well in this role that the name of Char- He Chan has become, synonymous
with his own. In "Charlie Chan's Greatest Case" he has a part that is said to present him with even greater opportunities than his roles in the part.

Showing At The
King's
Once again Jessie Matthews, who sparkled in "The Good Com panions." has made a hit, this time In "The Midshipmald,' showing at the King's Theatre ta day, the feature film at the Hip- podiome. It is a rollicking fim, and its uproarious humour has made it very popular. 42ND STREET
Delightful Picture At Queen's
The Queen's Theatre ·ara new showing 42nd Street, and the ap- preciative audience. testified to the axcellence of this production of Warner Bros., The leading roleu are being played by Bebe Daniels and Warner Baxter, and- with the assistance of a very large and ca- pable team they certainly have given us a picture of merit The settings are wonderful, and it is rather difficult to describe anything so spectacular. Our only advice on this matter is to see the film. and we feel "are you will not be disappointed the acting is very good indeed and lovers of musi will
enjoy this extravaganza.
The story deals with a big stage show from inception to "first right," with singing and dancing and a brilliant talkie debut by Ruby Keeler: Bebe Daniels, is, as charining as ever and Warner Bax- ter is still the box office attraction, and Co-starred with Miss Daniels, they make an excellent team.

ANCIENT CURIOS
Discovery In Pok Lo District
White in the process of digging the earth for some roots for me dicine, a farmer named Wu Mów of the Wu Chun Village in the Pok Lo District, recently found an" ear- then pot at a depth of about two feet.
الا
The contents of this pot were se veral aid coins, a broken sword and a Bull bronze vase, which was about five inches high
Information given by some of the villagers seems to point to the por- sibility of these curios belonging to the Han dynasty, for according to the Macient history, & Chinese Marshal named Lau Cheung of the Han dynasty had once built the. "Tin Wah Palace" in this village of that district.
