A new industry is being develop- ́ed 'in Lancashire as the result of the great progress which has been made in recent months in the production of pure benzol from coal gas. "It is estimated that the total" annual output from the principal centres in the county will soon reach 1,000,000 gallons of spirit.
Plants are in operation at the gasworks in Manchester, Oldham, Liverpool, Stretford, and Padiham, and in every case the results have been encouraging.
