Aria Landa, Jamited, has received the following report form their New York correspondents, E. A Pierce & Co. Traders are trying to determine wheter the the monetary discussion is having any effect on the market, but.. without much success. The outbreak of the discussion, however, probably served to further becloud the situation and make traders in common stock's more cautious. Despite the confusion, we think that large holders of common stocks are stubbornly hanging on, believing that business news. is suree to improve over the coming weeks.

Wheat: The declining Sterling and advancing Dollar, together with the belief that inflation will be discarded has induced general liquidation. Buying power was curtailed and confidence was again shaken.

Cotton: December liquidation caused a downward trend. There was. scattered selling, influenced by the lower tendencies of other markets.

Silver: The market opened easy or lower London and lower Slang. hai parities. No doubt there was some general liquidation as a result of the "Washington despatch stating that Acting Secretary of the Treasury Morgenthau characterised as incorrect the persistant reports that he is drafting or has completed a plan for the Government purchase of silver. Business Done: 1,370,000 shares.
